Big Billion Days is running late this year. Flipkart’s biggest festive sale opens on 9 October 2026, with early access on 8 October for Flipkart Plus, Flipkart Black and Flipkart credit card members. Flipkart put the schedule out on 16 September.
That is a real shift in the calendar. The 2025 edition started on 23 September, so anyone budgeting around the usual late-September window has roughly two extra weeks to plan, and two extra weeks of waiting.
The dates
24 September is when early bird deals are expected to go live, according to Flipkart’s own pre-sale announcement. These are not full BBD prices, but they are the first real discounts of the season.
Around 4 October is when the Curtain Raiser should begin. Flipkart describes it as a window where selected products open at Big Billion Days rates five days before the main sale. If your product is in that list, there is no reason to wait for the 9th.
8 October is early access day. Plus, Black and Flipkart credit card holders get in 24 hours before everyone else. This matters most for phones and appliances where stock runs out rather than where prices move.
9 October is the public opening. Flipkart has not published an end date yet, so treat the closing weekend as unknown for now.
The bank and payment offers
Flipkart has confirmed a 10% instant discount on Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards, 10% savings on the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card, and 10% cashback on your first super.money transaction. BHIM, CRED and Paytm are the UPI partners.
The catch is that the minimum order value and the maximum discount cap have not been published. In past years the cap has been the part that decides whether a bank offer is worth anything on a ₹80,000 phone or only on a ₹8,000 one. Until Flipkart publishes the terms, assume the discount is capped somewhere in the ₹1,500 to ₹4,000 range and do your maths accordingly.
If you do not hold an Axis or ICICI card, this is the one thing worth sorting out before 8 October. A 10% instant cut applies at checkout, stacks on top of the listed discount, and is usually larger than any coupon you will find.
How the deals will be structured
Flipkart’s sale page has previewed the formats it will use: Price Crash, BBD Specials, Tick Tock Deals, Brand Hours, Double Discount and Rush Hours. Product-wise offers are still marked as coming soon.
Practically, this means the sale is not one flat price list. Brand Hours and Rush Hours are time-boxed, so a laptop that costs ₹52,000 at 9 a.m. can cost ₹47,000 at 4 p.m. and go back up the next morning. Wishlisting the item is the only sane way to track this, since Flipkart’s app will notify you when the price drops.
Do not assume BBD is the floor for every category. Fashion, small kitchen appliances and accessories often hit similar prices during the smaller sales that run through October and November. Phones, TVs, laptops and large appliances are where the festive sale genuinely beats the rest of the year.
