Motorola isn’t even trying to keep this one under wraps. A Flipkart listing for the Moto G Max surfaced this week, complete with a launch date — August 14, noon — and nearly a full spec sheet, days before the company was supposed to announce any of it.
Let’s start with the number everyone’s going to fixate on: 7,000mAh. That’s the battery. Silicon-carbon cell, rated for 1,000 charge cycles, and Motorola’s pitching “up to three days” of use. I’ve heard that pitch before from other phones with much smaller batteries, so take it as a ceiling, not a promise. Even so, a cell that size usually means you’re charging every other day instead of every night, which is the kind of upgrade you actually notice.
The processor situation depends on your zip code. Indian units get a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. The version that already went on sale in other markets back in June runs MediaTek’s Dimensity 6400 instead. Same name, same body, different engine — a pretty common move for Motorola, but still the sort of thing that trips people up when they’re comparing benchmarks from two different countries and wondering why the numbers don’t match.
Screen-wise, it’s a 6.72-inch FHD+ panel at 120Hz, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, with a “Water Touch” mode that’s supposed to keep the display usable when your hands are wet. Small feature, but if you’ve ever tapped a soaked screen five times waiting for it to register, you know why it exists. The frame is MIL-STD-810H rated, so it’s built to survive drops and dust, not just look sturdy in marketing photos.
Camera duties go to a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 main sensor and an 8-megapixel ultrawide on the back, with a 32-megapixel selfie camera up front. Worth flagging: the globally-launched version of this phone used a 200-megapixel main sensor instead. That’s a real downgrade on paper for the Indian variant, though megapixel count alone rarely tells the whole story about image quality.
Memory runs on LPDDR5X with UFS 3.1 storage, and Motorola’s RAM Boost feature claims to stretch things up to 18GB by borrowing space from storage. Treat that ceiling number the way you’d treat any “boosted” spec — nice to have, not something to build a buying decision around.
A few smaller touches round it out: stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos tuning, a 3.5mm headphone jack (still alive, still appreciated), and a satin-finish back available in Pantone-selected colors — blue, dark gray, and pink so far. It ships on Android 16, with Motorola committing to two OS upgrades and three years of security updates, which is standard for this price tier rather than exceptional.
No word yet on Indian pricing. The phone launched overseas in June at roughly €420, and Motorola’s G-series usually lands in the ₹25,000–30,000 range once it crosses into India, so that’s the ballpark I’d guess at until the 14th settles it.
