Samsung has begun the staged rollout of One UI 8, the Android 16–based update that brings deeper Galaxy AI integrations, a redesigned multitasking experience, tighter on device security, and UX refinements across phones, foldables, tablets and XCover devices. The release started with the Galaxy S25 family and is being expanded in phased batches so different models get the stable build at different times depending on region and carrier.
Key features in One UI 8
- Galaxy AI enhancements: context aware suggestions, Gemini Live integrations and generative editing tools that reduce app switching and help perform tasks based on what you’re doing.
- Now Bar and Now Brief improvements: live app activity, richer notifications and personalised daily summaries and suggestions.
- Redesigned multitasking: an upgraded split screen style that lets a secondary app be dragged mostly offscreen to prioritise a primary app’s real estate.
- Stronger security for AI: new Knox based protections, encrypted app specific storage for sensitive data and postquantum cryptography support for Secure Wi‑Fi.
(Feature availability will vary by model and region; some advanced AI features may be limited to newer hardware.).
How Samsung is rolling the update out (timing and approach)
Samsung is using a phased rollout. The company started with the Galaxy S25 series and the build will reach other flagship and midrange devices across weeks and months. In major markets such as India, Samsung published a staggered schedule via the Samsung Members notices that groups many devices into October and November windows, while earlier flagship models already received the update. To check for and install the update manually, open Settings > Software update > Download and install on your device.
Caveat: OTA availability depends on carrier, region and internal testing; backups before upgrading are recommended.

How to check if your Samsung device has One UI 8 available
1. Back up your data (recommended).
2. Open Settings > Software update > Download and install. If the update is available for your model in your region it will appear there.
3. Alternately, watch for the Samsung Members app notice which often contains official rollout timelines for specific countries.
Quick compatibility summary and practical tips
- If your device is from the Galaxy S24/S25 lines, Z Fold6/Z Flip6 or later Galaxy flagships, expect One UI 8 early in the rollout cycle.
- Many midrange A, F and M models are included but may receive the update later in the October–November windows in large markets such as India.
- Some advanced AI features may be limited by hardware — newer devices get full Galaxy AI functionality while older models receive selected features.
- Always back up, ensure sufficient battery and storage, and prefer Wi‑Fi when downloading the OTA.
